The idea of a superfood dog treat started with a chat between a father and daughter.
Health conscious Jemma was trying to convince her dad that he should add green juice and vitamins to his daily routine. Mark thought he was pretty healthy for his age, but looking at his daughter drinking her turmeric, kale and apple juice he knew he could be doing more. In a bid to change the conversation, Mark started talking about Jackson, their much loved family Lab.
They discussed exercise and diet and what else they could do to take good care of him. “We need a green juice for dogs!” joked Jemma. Looking at Jemma’s slimy green concoction, Mark was not convinced. However it did get him thinking…

Hemp seed oil and hemp seed nutrients are the new superfoods. They have long been known to provide many health benefits, but it is only recently with changes to regulations that they have been permitted to be added to both human and pet foods.
They are full of Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids in the ideal ratio, with a rich mineral profile including magnesium, zinc, iron, as well as abundant amino acids and proteins.
Hemp seed has no detectable levels of the compound THC, which is the component in cannabis responsible for psychoactive effects.

Importantly we add L-Tryptophan as it is one of 10 essential amino acids that dogs require in their diet, and is a precursor to the production of serotonin and melatonin which are involved in a number of metabolic pathways that control sleep, behaviour and mood. It may play a vital role in supporting your dog’s wellbeing by regulating stress and anxiety in the brain.
To complete the perfect blend, Ginger has been included, as it has for many years been used as a relaxant and calmative agent.

Prebiotics are typically non-digestable compounds in food that help and stimulate the growth of beneficial bacteria and fungi in the gastrointestinal tract so they can optimise the gut microbial make up for better digestive health.
The Vitalitae Digestion blend (biscuits only) also importantly contains charcoal powder, which is widely used in human and canine nutrition as a natural ingredient to help with digestion and stomach complaints. In dogs it can also assist in the age-old doggie problem of ‘wind’.

Long associated with many health benefits, EPA and DHA are added in the ideal ratio plus sunflower oil and fish oil, which results in very high levels of Omega 3 and 6.
